- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1 year minimum required (18 months for general IU Health positions) 2. Cases: Daily average 6 surgical cases; L&D with typical OB cases including Cesarean Section, D&C, D&E, Tubal Ligation, Cerclage; Non-OB high risk cases including Accreta/Cyst, laparoscopic ectopic, cystoscopy 3. Certifications: BLS, NBSTSA required; NBSTA cert must be in hand to submit; must be AHA certified 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent license applications submitted; IN RN licenses not allowed (except Periop/OR RNs are exempt) 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: Cerner required; no specific charting required for IU Health positions 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12s required; call required; CVOR call required; blocked scheduling available 8. RTO: Auto-approve 5 days non-holiday RTO or less; anything more requires facility approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 9. Returning Staff: Any permanent or PRN employee must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires designated break after 12 months travel employment 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; surgical services positions accept locals at lower rate; out-of-state residents require 3-month break, in-state require 6-month break to reset eligibility 11.
