Job Description

Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – Pediatrics – Psych

Shift: Nights / 7p-7a, 12×3, 36 hrs per week, no call

Length: 13 weeks

Weekend rotation: every other; Sat/Sun
Holiday Expectations: expected to work holidays in rotation

Requirements:

  • ME license
  • Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience
  • Skills : De-escalation experience, experience with physical restraints (chemical restraints are NOT used), medication passes, comfortability to run groups, documentation
  • BLS
  • MOAB
  • Pediatric BH experience preferred
Other:
  • Float – between all pediatric units
  • Will  accept a first-time traveler
  • Patient Ratios: RN: Day – 1:5-6; Night – 1:13 with resource support (including Nursing support)
  • Charting System/Equipment: Cerner, Pyxis
Patient Types:
  • Free standing acute inpatient facility – contracted ER 5 min away
  • All patients come from an ED and are medically cleared
  • not typical to have lines, drains, tubes, etc.
  • Children and Adolescents receiving inpatient Mental Health services – ages 5 – 18
  • Common diagnoses include, but are not limited to: Eating Disorders, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Gender Dysphoria
  • Traditional medical and psychiatric care in addition to specialized therapies such as: pet therapy, group sessions, recreation therapy (rock wall), community gardens
Support on the Unit:
  • Nurse Supervisor – available evenings/weekends
  • Nurse Manager – days
  • House Administrator – available overnight and weekends
  • Charge nurse – has patient assignment
  • Psych Techs
  • Contracted Phlebotomist for lab draws
  • Nurse Practitioner; on site until 1600 and then on call overnight
  • Psychiatrist – daily rounds and On Call 0000-0600
  • Occupational Therapist – 0800-1630, 7 days per week
  • Security on site – will not respond to patient escalations (staff from all 6 units within the facility, to include Techs and Nurses, respond to patient escalations)
