- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1 year required; charge experience preferred; Trauma Level I experience preferred 2. Cases: PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown settings; primary Pulmonary/GI; cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management; IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care; common IV medications include Cardizem (no titration), Amiodarone, Heparin (protocol), Insulin (protocol); respiratory support including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; must be active and in hand 4. License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic required 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12s, 6:45a-7:15p; EOW or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule; facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; must work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract (2 holidays required during winter: Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, NYE/New Year's); float required within skillset to PCU or MS units; patient ratio 1:5; may work without CNA support 8. RTO: All RTO must be submitted upfront with the submission; two pre-approved time off slots noted 9. Returning Staff: Previous employees (per diem and permanent) must be gone a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler; effective July 1, 2025, facility does not allow travelers to return after working 365 days on assignment despite any separation period; exceptions reviewed case by case by Carilion leadership; travelers ending prior to July 1st are grandfathered under the previous one-year policy with a six-month break before reapplying 10.
