- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of clinical nursing experience required 2. Cases: General med-surg issues including opioid abuse, organ failure, change in LOC, behavior issues, MRDD/delay issues; skills required include chest tubes, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, rapid response/code teams 3. Certifications: BLS required; IV certification required; must be AHA or American Red Cross (standard compliance) 4. License: Active Ohio RN license required; valid compact or state license in hand at time of submission 5. Education: Must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 6. EMR: EPIC experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: Nights, 3x12s; weekdays and some weekends; 3-4 weekend days per month; float required to different units within the OSU organization as needed; patient ratio is 4:1 days, nights, and weekends; orientation is 36 hours 8. RTO: RTO required at submission and must be built into contract; only one pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more; current OSU employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at the same rate; fingerprinting required — candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must drive to an Ohio fingerprinting location ASAP after booking; those at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently 11. Background: Ohio fingerprinting process is urgent and must be completed as soon as the contract is signed; strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start — no exceptions; travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel; screen candidates for vacation time immediately after booking due to potential fingerprinting delays 12.
