- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required (18 months noted as a separate reference point; refer to job description for exceptions by unit) 2. Cases: Circulator skills required; preferred experience in PV and Pediatrics (Gen Surg, ENT, Uro, Ortho, Sports Med, Dental); extensive list of surgical skills on file including Robotic, Bariatric, Ortho/Spine, Thoracic, Vascular, and more 3. Certifications: BLS (BCLS) required; must align with unit description for any additional certs 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses may be obtainable once permanent license application has been submitted; SSN and DOB required at time of submittal 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: Cerner required (note: a separate IU Health policy states no specific charting required for IU Health positions — confirm with AM) 7. Shifts/Call: Night shift; orientation on days for 1-2 weeks prior to transitioning to nights; block scheduling; 1:1 ratios days, nights, and weekends; 5-8 twelve-hour call shifts per 13-week contract; weekend coverage is call only; float required very rarely within hospital or to affiliate hospital 8. RTO: Up to 5 non-holiday days may be auto-approved; anything more requires facility approval; candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; up to 2 pre-approved time off slots noted 9. Returning Staff: Any permanent or PRN IU employee must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler; IU travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break (effective 2/24/26); out-of-state residents require a 90-day break prior to year mark; in-state residents require a 180-day break prior to year mark 10. Travel/Local: No locals for this position; IN residents are generally considered local; Surgical Services positions do accept local travelers at in-state rate and lower BR; not accepted for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, and ER 11.
