- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required 2. Cases: General Med/Surg patients; adults and geriatrics; insulin drips, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, high flow oxygen, occasional short-term BiPAP with respiratory support; no PCU level patients 3. Certifications: BLS/BCLS required; CPI preferred; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license; pending OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required; Pyxis, SBAR also in use 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights (18:45-07:15); 36 or 48 hours accepted; charge role required for night travelers; call required if put on call prescheduled shift; float to similar units and alternate care locations; every other weekend required; must be able to work holidays; assigned to Inclement Weather/Storm/Hurricane Team; contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters; all travelers must attend monthly unit team meetings (4th Wednesday Jan-Oct, 3rd Wednesday Nov-Dec at 1730; night shift follow-up Fridays at 0730) 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; cannot request additional RTO after signing; any call-offs or additional RTO could result in cancellation and DNR 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed; current travel per diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose one — include status and intent in submission 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile radius; locals accepted at lower rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; acute care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge; time spent on modules should be margined separately from orientation hours 13. Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted 14. Scrubs: Navy; not provided by hospital 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required — medical/religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Pyxis; wound vac; high flow oxygen; BiPAP Critical: Candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours of signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours. Charge nurse experience preferred. Travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed. References can be pending at submission. Must have a teamwork approach and adhere to the call-off policy, which is strongly enforced. 13-26 week contracts accepted.
