- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 1 year required; 18 months if not otherwise listed in job description. Med/Surg experience required. 2. Cases: Preferred experience in Cardiac Monitoring, Telemetry/remote monitoring, Rapid Response Teams, Post Angiogram, Post MI, IV insulin protocols, Colostomy Care, Feeding tube care, Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management, Renal failure, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral/PICC line management, Starting IVs, Heparin, Insulin, PCA, CVA, Pre/Post Neuro Surgery, Ortho trauma, Surgical drains, Chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, Nasal Cannula, Oxygen masks/tanks, Oral suctioning, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound Vac. 3. Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required. Must be AHA or American Red Cross only; RQI cards not accepted. Copies required at submission. 4. License: Active IL license required at time of submission; no exceptions unless noted. Pending license not accepted. 5. Education: Not specified. 6. EMR: Cerner experience preferred; position specific. 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12 Days (0645-1915). No on-call required. Will float as needed to other MedSurg and like units, including affiliate hospitals. Every other weekend required; 1:5 ratios for days, nights, and weekends. 8. RTO: Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO auto-approved. Anything more requires facility approval. Candidate must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. One pre-approved RTO noted. RTO and start date must be confirmed accurate at submission. 9. Returning Staff: Previous perm/PRN candidates must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler. 10. Travel/Local: No radius requirement; locals accepted for this unit. (Note: OR RN specialty requires 50 miles or more.) 11. Background: Any background check hits must be noted upon submission so facility approval can be sought prior to offer. 12. Modules: Non-billable up to 16 hours. Completed pre-start, renewed annually. Non-clinical hours are fixed; clinical module hours may vary. First day is a virtual at-home day; candidates must check for additional modules by 4PM CST on Day 1. Module logins sent out prior to start. Strict deadlines; candidates will be pushed if not completed on time. 13. Travel Experience: Not required. 14. Scrubs: Any solid color. 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required — Medical/Religious Exemptions Only. 16. Special Equipment: No special equipment; basic Hoyer lift and bladder scanner used on unit. Critical: SSN and DOB required at time of submittal. Must provide 2-3 interview times upon submission. References may be submitted as pending. Compliance items (lab appointment, DocuSign, badge photo) must be completed within 1 week of signing the contract. Traveler must have reviewed and be able to secure housing and must be PRE-CLOSED at time of submission. Previous charge experience preferred. Level I Trauma experience preferred.
