- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required for submission; Level 1 Trauma experience required 2. Cases: MICU population predominantly multi-system failure with co-morbid conditions; Sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, and organ failure are common diagnoses; Special procedures include percutaneous trachs, CVC placements, A-lines, CRRT, SLED, PA caths, chest tubes, thoracentesis, paracentesis, PEG placements, intubation, conscious sedation, and diagnostic travel with patients 3. Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; CCRN noted; copies of required certifications must be included at submission 4. License: VA license accepted as pending at submission but must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date; Nursys verification required for submittal 5. Education: BSN preferred 6. EMR: Epic experience required; include copy of Epic certification/experience at submission 7. Shifts/Call: Nights; 36 or 48 hours available; 13-week contract; every other weekend; every other holiday; patient ratio 1:2; orientation is 24 hours 8. RTO: Up to 40 hours guaranteed per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after acceptance; unable to approve time off around Labor Day; unable to approve back-to-back weekends off; any vacation plans between sign date and start date must be communicated at time of submission 9. Returning Staff: Must inform Client Delivery Manager if previously employed at any UVA Health system facility as permanent staff, internal, or external traveler; permanent staff and internal travelers must be separated for one year and approved by UVA leadership; external travelers may not work more than 365 days total regardless of separation period 10. Travel/Local: Select units have a 50-mile travel restriction; MICU is not listed among restricted locals-not-accepted units, so mile radius rule does not appear to apply to this unit 11. Background: If aware of any background hits, must inform Client Delivery Manager prior to submission 12. Modules: Non-billable up to 16 hours; any time exceeding 16 hours is billable; completed during orientation; vary by specialty; recorded in Workday 13. Travel Experience: Required 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required — No Exemptions 16. Special Equipment: Accu-check/Glucommander; ABGs/Point of care testing; ventilators Critical: References required. Nursys verification required at submittal. Candidates must float within scope of practice per UVA float policy.
