  • Unit Notes:Med Sol clinical prescreens Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Candidates who were employed PRN through outside firms will be considered. ****RN must pass the ADVANCED Dysrhythmia (83%) before signing the contract. They will be given three attempts to pass.**** ****Special Information: Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination**** Trauma Level? STEMI Receiving? Stroke Center? "Level III STEMI and Stroke Receiving" # Beds/Trauma Bays 18 including 4 critical rooms-used for trauma or codes Do you have a Fast Track 6 Do you have a separate Triage area? If so, do you allow/require travelers to do Triage? Yes, travelers are allowed to staff Do you have a separate holding area in the ER or are ER holds intermixed w/in the ER? No- holds are intermixed and ER nurses will care for the holds Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms? 1 Is Security in-house 24/7? Housed in the ER? Security in house 24/7- round in ER On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day? 70 per day on average Nurse: Patient Ratios 1:3-4 depending on acuity Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS?) BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Common diagnoses/Types of patients Pediatrics-only hospital in the area that admits peds (will ship out if super sick), cardiac, STEMIs, Strokes, some trauma- for multisystem trauma sent to Bryan, general ER-abdominal pain, respiratory, GI, etc. Experience or 'Must have' skills "2 years experience Ok with first time travelers" Common drips? all common drips seen in ER- pressors, sedation, etc. ED Physician/Mid-Levels "MD in house 24 hour/7 2 midlevels staggered throughout busy times" Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge nurse-generally patient free Nurse aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters? Ratios? Duties? 2 PCTs per shift- can occasionally get pulled to be a sitter Is RT in the ER 24/7? Do they do ABG's, breathing Tx, & EKG's? "RT in the ER- do ABGs and breathing txs, run vents RNs do EKGs" RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? "Nasal Cannula to Vents- RNs troubleshoot" Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the Tele monitors? No monitor techs- RNs required to read and interpret X-Ray or CT in the ER? Transport? X-Ray and CT right down the hall, they will help transport Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw? phlebotomy in ER Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) "12 hours- Day and night shift start at 6:45 Midshifts start at 9, 11,1,3 Matrix scheduling- try to accommodate travelers needs" Weekend Requirements every other weekend Holiday Requirements worked in with perm staff rotation Is there call or a standby requirement? no Floating Requirements usually don't float- travelers would be first to float and would be helping hand if they do float Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy - undershirts must be navy. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy. Unit/Department specific orientation 1-3 shifts dependent on experience- get a checkoff packet to go over with preceptor Additional Notes " RNs are not responsible for setting up placement for the psych patients- have someone come screen and setup placement if they meet inpatient criteria Likes travelers to extend" Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 weeks Charting System:MEDITECH BSN Required:False License to Submit:Yes Trauma Level:3 Care Setting:Acute Division:Nursing Shift Notes:12hr Shifts, EOW, First to Float Required Certifications:ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC c
