- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required (challenging and busy unit with similar ratio/acuity experience) 2. Cases: Cardiac and stroke unit; pre/post pacemaker implantation, cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, TR bands, interventional peripheral vascular procedures, stable CVA, TIA patients 3. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, and NIH required; copies required at submission 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred; charting system experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights Friday/Saturday/Sunday; call required based on census; float required; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 8. RTO: Auto-approve 7 days or less (no holidays); more requires approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week due to orientation; RTO after booking NOT allowed 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant Health/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months; facility rehire approval needed; must disclose previous employment 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile radius; locals offered lower rate; will accept first-time travelers 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; 8-10 hours for acute care; must be completed pre-start via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes 13. Travel Experience: Will accept first-time travelers 14. Scrubs: Navy blue or white or mixture of both; jackets same material and color 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - medical/religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Cardiac telemetry, pulse ox, high flow O2, non-rebreather mask, BiPap (chronic use only), Blanketrol; Pyxis, Dimensions (EPIC), SBAR Critical: Must pass EKG testing prior to start. Lab work within 48 hours of signing. Patient ratios 1:5-6. Must be comfortable with cardiac drips titration. Unit turns over 78-90 patients weekly. 36-hour orientation required with daily availability first week.
