- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 18 months for some exceptions 2. Cases: Ortho/Trauma med-surg unit; 20% ortho (hip/knee surgeries), 80% trauma (MVAs, shootings, falls); Level 1 Trauma experience preferred 3. Certifications: BLS required; BCLS and ACLS preferred; specialty experience of 3 or 4 on scale for Ortho and Neuro 4. License: IN/Compact license must be in hand prior to start date or fingerprint application submitted; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent license applications submitted 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at graduation 6. EMR: No specific charting required 7. Shifts/Call: Must work 50% of weekends; patient ratios 5:1 days, 5:1-6:1 nights/weekends; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 8. RTO: Auto-approve 5 days non-holiday; anything more requires facility approval; one pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Former IU employees must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract break required after 12 months 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; locals not accepted for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, ER positions; locals accepted for surgical services at lower rate 11.
