- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required for submission; Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred; screen candidates with less than 300-bed experience 2. Cases: Must be comfortable managing mechanically ventilated patients; ICU and floor coverage required; acute and chronic respiratory disease management required; may be asked to precept respiratory therapy students 3. Certifications: BLS, RRT (HARDSTOP — do not submit without RRT); ACLS required for Barnes-Jewish Hospital location; certifications not required at time of submittal unless noted; all certs must allow for fit testing (facial hair must allow proper seal, no exceptions) 4. License: Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner License required; MO — submit without license OK, requires MO or compact (no issuance if tied to another compact state); IL — license in hand required at time of submittal; Compact — must match permanent residence, otherwise submit for update and confirm ETA; pending license accepted 5. Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in any field strongly preferred, or actively working toward one 6. EMR: Epic experience required; charting system experience required 7. Shifts/Call: Three 12-hour shifts per week; every third weekend rotation; willing to work some holidays; block schedule not available; float within service line required; guaranteed hours — 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length); confirm shift (e.g., 3x12, 4x12) in submittal 8. RTO: Maximum 7 days; 7+ days requires manager approval, including any holiday RTO; no new RTO after submission; no RTO allowed the first week of an assignment; pre-approved time off noted as two 9. Returning Staff: 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service required; permanent employees across BJC and/or Saint Lukes must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler; mid-contract cancellations to accept another BJC assignment are not permitted; if contract is canceled at contractor's discretion, must complete an assignment elsewhere before being considered for a new BJC opportunity 10. Travel/Local: No local candidates accepted within 75-mile radius; no local travelers allowed except for Patient Care Technicians, Certified Nurse Assistants, and Medical Assistants 11. Modules: Billable up to 16 hours at $20/hr; completed pre-start via WorkRamp and uploaded to compliance report; required for RNs and LVS; must be started within 1 week of signed contract and completed 2 Fridays prior to start date to avoid delays; do not differ per specialty 13.
