Requirements

- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted. Outpatient clinic and acute care experience required. 2. Cases: Outpatient and acute care; primarily outpatient. Monthly weekend coverage in acute setting. 3. Certifications: BLS required; must be AHA or American Red Cross (implied by BLS standard). ARRT(R) listed. 4. License: Virginia Physical Therapy license required; does not need to be in hand at submittal but must be active. Can apply immediately upon offer. 5. Education: DPT or Master's degree required. 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred. 7. Shifts/Call: 5x8s, Monday-Friday, 9:00a-5:30p. 4x10 days available by request (8:00-16:00, Monday-Friday with one random day off). Weekend coverage once per month in acute setting. Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks. 8. RTO: All RTO requests must be submitted with the submittal. Travelers required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment; during winter holidays, 2 holidays required (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, NYE/New Year's). 9. Returning Staff: Previous employees (per diem and permanent) must be gone a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler. Effective July 1, 2025: facility does not allow travelers to return after working 365 days on assignment, regardless of separation period. Exceptions reviewed by Carilion leadership on a case-by-case basis. Travelers ending prior to July 1st are grandfathered under the previous one-year policy with a six-month break before reapplying. 10. Travel/Local: Candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are considered local and are NOT accepted. Distance calculated from address on Driver's License only; no additional proof of residency accepted. Exceptions apply only to Inpatient RNs at Roanoke Memorial and Roanoke Community Hospitals and RRT (Neo/Peds) at Roanoke Memorial — not applicable to this PT position. 11. Background: Not specified. 12. Modules: Non-billable if completed within first 24 hours of NBO. Facility allows 5 hours for orientation modules and 2 hours for Epic (for inpatient RNs). May be completed pre-start or during orientation; hours vary by specialty. Recorded by facility report and paid upon receipt of approved hours. 13. Travel Experience: Required; first-time travelers not accepted. 14. Scrubs: Not specified. 15. Flu Vaccine: Required — Medical/Religious Exemptions Only. COVID-19 Vaccine also required — Medical/Religious Exemptions Only. 16. Special Equipment: Not specified.
