- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years required; must have Ortho experience. 1st time travelers accepted WITH Epic experience. 2. Cases: Orthopedic, Neuro spine, Med-surg, Post-surgical. Must have Ortho and spine experience; nurses must stay on top of pain management. 3. Certifications: BCLS/BLS and NIH/NIHSS required; ACLS preferred. Must pass EKG Testing prior to start. 4. License: NC or Compact license pending OK for submittal. 5. Education: Not specified. 6. EMR: Epic required (Charting System Experience: Required). 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights; 36 or 48 hours available. Every other weekend required (if RN calls out on a weekend, must make it up on a weekend). Float required — travelers may be floated to any other med-surg unit within the facility. Block scheduling option available (F/S/S or S/S/M). Patient ratios 6-7:1, can flex to 7:1 in extreme cases only. 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays). Must work 2 of 3 major holidays. No RTO during first week. All RTO must be pre-approved. Cannot request additional RTO after signing. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in a cancel and DNR. 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (Perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying. Disclosure required (with hospital name and dates employed) at submission; facility approval needed. 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile radius; locals accepted at lower rate. Travel pairs allowed (must be on different units and disclosed). Current travel Per Diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts — must choose one; include status and intent in submission. 11. Background: Not specified. 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; time spent should be margined separately from orientation hours. Acute Care: approximately 8-10 hours. Must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. 13. Travel Experience: Required. 14. Scrubs: Not specified. 15. Flu Vaccine: Required — Medical/Religious Exemptions Only. COVID-19 Vaccine: Not Required. 16. Special Equipment: Not specified.
