- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of surgical unit experience required 2. Cases: Wide range of surgical and trauma cases including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, hernia repair, TURP, ostomy creation/closure, wound debridement, tumor removal, kidney stone removal, amputations, fem pop bypass 3. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH required; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license (pending OK for submittal) 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights, no call required, every other weekend, float when needed to like units 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto approved (no holidays), must work 2 of 3 major holidays, no RTO during first week, all RTO must be pre-approved, cannot request additional RTO after signing 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name/dates employed at submission 10. Travel/Local: Local candidates (within 50 miles) accepted at lower rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Pre-start modules non-billable; Acute Care approximately 8-10 hours, completed online using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge 13. Travel Experience: Travel experience preferred but not required 14. Scrubs: All Navy or Navy on bottom/White top 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical/Religious Exemptions Only 16. Special Equipment: Wound Vacs, Chest Tubes, NG tube/Corpak, JP Drains, Hemovac Drains, Penrose Drains Critical: Must go into lab within 48 hours after signing. Patient ratio 1:6 for floor surgical/medicine inpatient patients. Must be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events.
