- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required; must have experience with high acuity ratios and fast-paced cardiac/telemetry environment; PCU experience preferred but not required 2. Cases: Cardiac and stroke unit; pre/post pacemaker implantation, cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, TR bands, peripheral vascular procedures, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA/TIA, unstable angina, chest pain evaluation; management of multiple cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.); titration of cardiac drips required 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS (BCLS), and NIHSS required; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license; pending license OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic (Dimensions) preferred; Pyxis also used 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights, 18:45-07:15; weekends only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday); 36 hours only; call required based on patient census; float required; no block scheduling; travelers must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation (36 hours orientation) 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; cannot request additional RTO after signing; any call-offs or additional RTO could result in cancellation and DNR 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (permanent/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Locals within 50 miles accepted at lower rate; travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed; candidates must be open to floating within or near facility 11. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; acute care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge; module time should be margined separately from orientation hours 13. Scrubs: Navy blue or white scrubs, or a mixture of both; Novant t-shirts allowed all days; jackets must match uniform material and color (no fleece); no crocs with holes 15. Special Equipment: Telemetry and pulse ox; high-flow O2 (stable patients only with pulse ox ordered); non-rebreather mask (palliative only); BiPAP allowed for chronic use only; Blanketrol; no new BiPAP; no unstable O2 with BiPAP or non-rebreather; no respiratory rate greater than 35; no O2 sat below 85% with high-flow O2; no continuous KCl with concentration greater than 60 mEq/Liter Critical: Candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours.
