- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required; must have experience with similar ratios and acuity on a fast-paced unit 2. Cases: Cardiac and stroke unit; pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, cardiac catheterization, TR bands; post interventional peripheral vascular procedures; cardiac drips (Cardizem, Dopamine, Amiodarone); PCI; CVA/TIA; CHF; dysrhythmias; unstable angina; low-risk chest pain; COVID-positive patients on opti-flow and BiPAP 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license pending OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic (Dimensions) preferred; Pyxis also used 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights, 18:45-07:15; call required (frequency depends on census); float required; every other weekend required plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays per 6-week period; no block scheduling 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; no additional RTO requests after signing; call-offs or additional RTO could result in cancellation and DNR 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (permanent, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying; hospital name and dates of employment must be disclosed at submission; facility approval required 10. Travel/Local: Locals within 50 miles accepted at lower rate; travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed; current travel per diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts 11. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable and must be margined separately from orientation hours; acute care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge 13. References can be pending at submission. All skills listed are hard stops. PCU experience preferred but not required; cardiac telemetry experience is mandatory.
