- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience required; must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass 2. Cases: Oncology experience preferred but not required; patient diagnoses include Head and Neck cancers, Neuro-oncology, and Brain tumors 3. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, NIHSS, OCN noted (asterisked); all copies required at submission; skills include IV starts, telemetry, tracheostomy management, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, administration of chemotherapy 4. License: Valid compact or Ohio state license required in hand at time of submission 5. Education: Must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour day/night rotating; if accepting rotating contract, may be scheduled days, nights, or combination based on department needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; first week of orientation is Mon-Fri dayshift; second week is 36 hours of on-unit orientation with preceptor; self-schedule; float required to other MedSurg Oncology units or units of equivalent or lower acuity; patient ratio 1:5 8. RTO: One pre-approved time off; RTO required with submission and must be built into contract; candidates with vacation immediately after booking may experience delays due to fingerprinting 9. Returning Staff: Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from facility for 6 months or more; current employees ineligible to be hired as traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location; former manager name should be noted 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at the same rate; please submit to only one location 11. Background: Ohio fingerprinting required; must complete fingerprints as soon as contract is signed; strict compliance deadline is Tuesday prior to start with no exceptions; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must drive to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking; candidates at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently upon receipt 12. Modules: Orientation hours are 72 13. Travel Experience: Previous travel experience preferred 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical Exemptions Only; COVID-19 vaccine not required 16. Special Equipment: B450 monitors, GE telemetry system, Bladder Scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds; tracheostomy care including suctioning, general trach care, and changing inner cannula required; drain management including JP and Hemovacs; heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls Critical: Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership capacity; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted. Candidates must be made aware of the urgency of the Ohio fingerprinting process. Travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push or cancellation.
