- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of Med Surg experience required; Stepdown/PCU experience also required as nurses will float to PCU unit 2. Cases: General surgical and ortho with medical overflow; PCU cases include CHF, COPD, respiratory failure, post cath, cardiac arrhythmias, CIWA, chest pain, NSTEMI, AKI, PE, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis 3. Certifications: BCLS/BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required 4. License: Must already be SC licensed; facility will not accept any license hits 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Meditech preferred 7. Shifts/Call: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed; float required across MS/ARU and Stepdown/PCU units; 6 weekends per contract (patterned); orientation is 24 hours 8. RTO: Not specified 9. Returning Staff: Not specified 10. Travel/Local: Must live more than 50 miles from facility; cannot live within 50 miles 11. Background: Facility will not accept any background hits 12. Modules: Not specified 13. Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted; travel experience preferred 14. Scrubs: Royal blue/white; not provided by facility 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required; medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed 16. Special Equipment: Bucks Traction, CPM, Epidural, PCA, ETCO2, SCD, CPAP, suction, specialty beds; PCU: BiPAP, Liberty PD machines, GE telepacks Critical: Traveler MUST be comfortable frequently floating between MedSurg and Stepdown/PCU. Stepdown ratios are 1:4-5; MedSurg ratios are 1:5-6. COVID-19 vaccine required with medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed. IV start skills required.
