- Active California RN license required before start
- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of recent independent PICU experience required (must be within the last year, not including orientation time); experience must be in the same unit; must have experience with at least a 10-bed PICU unit 2. Cases: High acuity — injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-op cardiac surgical care, neurosurgery; CVP and ICP experience both required; EVD experience highly preferred 3. Certifications: BLS and PALS required; must be AHA or equivalent; copies required at submission 4. License: CA RN License required; pending state license accepted if ETA from licensing is provided 5. Education: BSN highly preferred; Magnet facility and teaching hospital experience highly preferred 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred; computerized charting experience required 7. Shifts/Call: Variable day/night or straight nights; October 12 start only; must work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's; no holiday time off approved; must be available to work weekends with full flexibility; no on-call required; travelers given lower acuity patients 8. RTO: 7 days RTO max; must still complete 3 shifts that week; no holiday time off will be approved 9. Returning Staff: Not specified 10. Travel/Local: Locals not accepted; prefers at least 1 prior travel assignment but will consider first-timers with strong experience; travel experience required per system 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Not billable 13. Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred; first-timers considered with strong experience; travel experience marked as required in system 14. Scrubs: Any color 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required — no exemptions 16. Special Equipment: Ventilators, multiple monitors, CVP monitoring, EKG interpretation, arterial line management, external ventricular drain (EVD), ICP monitoring; rotating shifts noted; variable shifts, not rotating Critical: Must have CVP and ICP experience — non-negotiable. Must be willing to float between CVPICU and NICU. Ratio is 1:1-2. Large facility PICU experience highly preferred; small PICU acceptable only if nurse-to-patient ratio was 1:2. Parking is free. Contract is 13 weeks at winter rate minimum.
