- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of NICU Level 4 required; will consider Level 3 RN with strong surgical experience from a Level 3 NICU that performs surgeries on newborns (must be mentioned in submittal); strong Level 4 travelers with surgical NICU experience preferred; cardiac experience required for CVPICU 2. Cases: High acuity surgical NICU; HIE/Cooling, CDH, NEC, respiratory distress/failure; surgeries include gastroschisis, omphaloceles, abdominal surgeries, myelomeningoceles, fresh trachs, g-tubes; gestational age 22 weeks to term 3. Certifications: BLS required; Advanced NRP required; PALS preferred; must be AHA or equivalent 4. License: CA RN License required; must be in hand or ETA of when it will post provided at submission; pending license accepted with ETA 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12 variable or straight nights; days/nights rotation required; must be flexible for days and nights within 13-week contract; must work 2 out of 3 holidays; no specific on-call requirement; must float to PICU, CTICU, Med Surg (within scope), and NICU satellite campuses (Scripps Hillcrest, Scripps La Jolla, Scripps Encinitas, Palomar, Rancho Springs); mileage reimbursed from home base to satellite locations; must have own transportation; travelers will not be assigned patients over 2 years old 8. RTO: 6 days max; must work 2 out of 3 holidays 9. Returning Staff: Perm staff must wait one year to be eligible to travel; any clinician who is a DNR for CHOC will not be considered for Rady; cancelled CHOC travelers require further review by Rady leadership; former manager name should be noted 10. Travel/Local: 50-mile local radius; locals NOT accepted 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; up to 10 hours to complete; completed pre-start; hours do not count as orientation hours; must be margined for in order to be paid; recorded via transcripts (completion only, not time); compliance documents due Wednesday prior to start 13. Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted if they have Level 4 experience 14. Scrubs: Any color 15. Flu Vaccine: Required — No Exemptions 16. Special Equipment: Central lines, drips, vents, Video EEG, NIRS, incubators, warmers; experience required with oscillator, conventional ventilator, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes; must be comfortable with line changes with multiple drips, pre and post-op care Critical: Must confirm full RTO upfront at submission (max 6 days). Must confirm willingness to float to PICU, CTICU, and Med Surg. DOB must be correct in system — used as first-time password for Rady systems. Can only submit to one job/unit at a time. If candidate lacks children's hospital experience, list facilities where pediatric patients were seen. Compliance documents due Wednesday prior to start date. August 3 start.
