- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 3 years in a Level 3 or 4 ICN required; do not submit if less than 3 years NICU experience 2. Cases: Premature infants (as low as 22 weeks), all types of surgical infants, hypoxic injury; special procedures include therapeutic hypothermia, nitric oxide, UAC/UVC, PCLs, Broviac, trachs, GTT, ostomies 3. Certifications: BLS and NRP required; vents experience required; additional skills include bubble CPAP, central line blood draw, IV vasopressors, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), nitric oxide, UAC/UVC, tracheostomy care, therapeutic hypothermia, sepsis work up, and more 4. License: NC or Compact license pending is OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred; unit systems include Pyxis, Epic, SBAR, 4P 7. Shifts/Call: 36 hours only; 12-hour nights, 18:45-07:15; no call required; float to Peds/PICU/nursery caring for infants up to 12 months; weekend requirement of 3 Fridays, 3 Saturdays, and 3 Sundays per 6-week period; self-scheduling per unit needs; patient ratio 1:2-4 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; no additional RTO after signing; RTO after booking is NOT allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; call offs or additional RTO could result in cancel and DNR 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (perm/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Locals within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate; travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed; 1st time travelers accepted 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; acute care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online via Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge; module time should be margined separately from orientation hours; 24 hours of unit orientation 13. Special Equipment: Tecotherm, BCPAP, Ram NC, Alaris IV pumps, Med Fusion for feedings, Servo Vents, HFOV, Baby Leo, Giraffe Critical: Candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours.
