- Unit Notes:**Can Apply for the OR 90 Day Emergency License if Clinician does NOT have OR license at time of submittal** Unit Med/Surg # of beds 19 Ratios: max 1 RN:4-5 pts on days, 1 RN:5 pts on nights Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Common diagnoses/Types of patients: CHF, Diabetic complications and diabetic wounds, pneumonia (bacterial and viral), COPD exacerbations, hip fractures, COVID-19. Post-op TURPs, hip and knee replacements, cholecystectomy, appendectomy Experience or 'Must have' skills: General medical-surgical, may have general pediatric patients as well Are RNs required to titrate drips? Infrequently Common titratable &/or set rate drips : Heparin, Bumex Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both on day and night shifts Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: 1-3 CNAs on day shift, 1 on night shift RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Cpap, bipap, high flow Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Tele monitored by CCU staff, tele board visible to med-surg staff Shifts & Scheduling: Nights 1900-0730 or Days 0700-1930 Weekend Requirement: every other Holiday Requirement: negotiable Is there a call or standby requirement? if placed on low census, expected to report within 30 minutes of call. Floating Requirements: RNs not fully cross-trained to other departments are expected to assist if floating as "helping hands". May elect to fully crosstrain to other departments. Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs Unit/Department specific orientation: 3-6 shifts, longer if needed Additional Notes: Great staffing ratios! RNs usually have less than our max.
