- Unit Notes:****AFFILIATE MUST ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT CREATED/REGISTERED TO RUN THE MN NETSTUDY PRIOR TO SUBMITTING A CANDIDATE**** Department: LDRP RN *Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NRP* NO CLINICAL INVOLVEMENT Shifts switch every 3 weeks on rotating D/N *Must have experience in Medsurg/Peds & L&D* - # of L&D Beds: 4 - # of Postpartum beds: 6 - Do you have separate triage beds, if so, how many? Yes, 1 - Are c-sections done in the OR? Yes - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:1 when being induced, 1:2 PP - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: OB: Labor and Delivery, Postpartem, Hyperbilirubenemia, Preterm labor, Triage - Experience or 'Must have' skills: must have L&D + Medsurg/Peds experience, critical access experience preferred - Previous travel experience required?: No - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: OB- Pitocin ICU- Cardiac drips, Heparin, sedation drugs - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: If necessary, but typically not - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: No, but on call - Anesthesia in house 24/7?: No, but on call - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.): Vents, CPAP, Bipap, High flow, Airvo - Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: RT on call 24/7 - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: RN's monitor tele, the HUC is also trained to read tele - Are RNs required to read their own strips?: Yes, but the ICU and CN's help with reading strips that the OB/MSP nurses are not comfortable with doing - What brand are the tele monitors?: Phillips - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Duties?: 1 Nurse Aid on from 6a-630p - EFM System: GE - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7a-730p; 7p-730a // scheduler to do schedule - Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend unless looking for a straight weekend position - Holiday Requirements: Every third holiday - Floating Requirements: Don't always have OB patients, so when it is slow in OB the nurses have to float to Med Surg Peds - Is there a call or standby requirement?: Yes, 1 hour response time - Scrub Color/Dress code: No Dress code, can where any color - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1- 12 hour shift - Additional Notes: Attributes that help make a nurse successful on this unit include communication, motivation, approachability Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year RTO needed upfront - Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
