- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of recent Neuro ICU experience within the last 7 years required; must support at least 2 years in the previous 3 years; minimum 1 completed travel assignment required; first-time travelers noted as accepted in job description (confirm against compliance requirement) 2. Cases: Neuro Intensive Care Unit; patient diagnoses include brain tumors, skull base tumors, complex spine, spine tumors, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, Parkinsons, seizures, GBS, Alzheimers, epilepsy, cerebrovascular conditions, movement disorders, neuromuscular disorders 3. Certifications: DC RN License, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; BSN and CCRN preferred; all certifications required at time of submission; must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with minimum 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms 4. License: DC RN License required; pending DC license accepted but must have license in hand prior to start date; copy of driver's license required at submittal 5. Education: BSN preferred 6. EMR: Cerner required 7. Shifts/Call: 3x12 Days (0700-1930) or Nights (1900-0730); every other weekend required; float required within units of equivalent or lower acuity; ratio 1:2 8. RTO: No RTO permitted during first two weeks of assignment; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; RTO must be submitted at time of submittal and cannot be changed once sent to manager; one pre-approved RTO noted 9. Returning Staff: Nurses with previous MedStar employment must have been separated a minimum of one year before returning as a traveler; candidates may only be submitted to one MedStar location at a time 10. Travel/Local: 60-mile local radius; candidate address must match driver's license; copy of driver's license required at submittal; local candidates accepted at a lower rate 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Facility- and unit-specific Sitel modules assigned upon hire; must be completed within one week of signing; average module duration is 12 hours; billable up to 4 hours, any time beyond is non-billable; completed pre-start and potentially during orientation; recorded via transcripts; labs and DS appointment must be completed within 48 hours of signing 13. Travel Experience: Minimum of 1 completed travel assignment required for consideration 14. Scrubs: Not provided by hospital; any solid color, no hospital logos 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required, no exemptions 16. Special Equipment: Ceiling lifts in every room, bladder scan, vein light, Bair Hugger, Arctic Sun, NxStage CRRT pumps, Belmont Rapid Transfuser Critical: Two supervisory references required, including one from most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years. Labs and DS appointment must be completed within 48 hours of signing. Manager interviews are not guaranteed. All submittals reviewed by clinical team.
