- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required; strong Neuro Critical Care background required (not just general ICU); first-time travelers not accepted 2. Cases: Comprehensive Stroke Center; patient population includes strokes (ischemic, hemorrhagic [SAH]), SDH, craniotomies, carotid stents, carotid endarterectomies, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, myasthenia gravis; drains used: EVDs, LDs, hemovacs, Camino (ICP monitoring) 3. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license; pending OK for submittal 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic required; Pyxis and SBAR also used 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights (18:45-07:15); 36 hours offered; every other weekend required; float required; no call requirement; ratios 2:1 (can flex to 3:1); orientation 24 hours (2 days or 2 nights) 8. RTO: Up to 7 days auto approved (no holidays); must work 2 of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week; all RTO must be pre-approved; cannot request additional RTO after signing; any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in cancel and DNR 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying; disclosure required with hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed; current travel Per Diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose one — include status and intent in submission 10. Travel/Local: Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate; travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; time spent on modules should be margined separately from orientation hours; Acute Care approximately 8-10 hours; must be completed pre-start and annually; conducted online using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge 13.
