- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of Emergency Room experience and Psych ED experience required; First-Timers not accepted 2. Cases: Chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, psych eval, respiratory distress, cardiac arrest; Psych ER skills required including de-escalation, patient searches, emergent chemical restraints, physical hold protocols, legal aspects of behavioral health, seclusion protocols, voluntary/involuntary commitment, crisis intervention, managing assaultive behavior, and psychiatric medication administration 3. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI (if not in hand, completed onsite), NIHSS required; all must be in hand at time of submission 4. License: NC or Compact license must be in hand at time of submission; Nursys required for RNs at submission 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic required 7. Shifts/Call: Every other weekend required; no on-call requirement; orientations are bi-weekly; patient ratio 1:4 days, nights, and weekends 8. RTO: Must be included with submission; 5-7 days max; only one pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Any previously permanent employment at Duke University Health System must be included in employment history at submission; candidate must not have been a permanent Duke employee within the past 6 months 10. Travel/Local: 75-mile local radius; locals accepted at $5 less than standard rate 11. Background: Not specified 12.
