- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required; acute hemodialysis experience required within the last year with Fresenius equipment; peritoneal dialysis experience with Baxter equipment required within the last year; if greater than 1 year, screen candidate. Day shift requires acute hemodialysis experience (cycler not required). Night shift RN must be competent with cycler, CAPD, obtaining PD fluid sample, and hemodialysis. CAPD experience helpful. 2. Cases: End stage renal disease on dialysis, chronic kidney disease progression to hemodialysis, acute kidney injury, peritoneal dialysis failure/infection requiring change of modality to hemodialysis, transplant rejection requiring hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis CCPD (Baxter cycler) and CAPD. 3. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and CDN or CNN preferred. All certifications listed with asterisk (*) indicate preferred. 4. License: NC or Compact license pending is OK for submittal. 5. Education: Not specified. 6. EMR: Epic Dimensions used on unit; charting system experience preferred. Pyxis also used. Voalte phone for verbal report. 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour days, 36 hours only. No formal call requirement; however, depending on PD/hemodialysis night shift census, staff may be assigned tasks within Division departments (not a patient assignment). Every other weekend required. Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disaster situations. Consolidation to Centralized Office mid-contract may occur with preassignment to units as needed. 8. RTO: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could result in a cancel and DNR. Up to 7 days auto-approved (no holidays). Must work 2 of 3 major holidays. No RTO during first week. All RTO must be pre-approved. Cannot request additional RTO after signing. Days off may be arranged as schedule allows due to department need. 9. Returning Staff: Former Novant/New Hanover employees (permanent, PRN, or EP) must wait 12 months before applying. Disclosure required at submission including hospital name and dates employed; facility approval needed. Current travel per diem clinicians are not eligible for travel contracts and must choose one; include status and intent in the submission. 10. Travel/Local: Local candidates within 50 miles receive a lower rate. Locals accepted. 11. Background: Not specified. 12. Modules: Pre-start modules are non-billable; time spent on modules should be margined separately from orientation hours. Acute care: approximately 8-10 hours of modules. Must be completed pre-start and annually (varies by specialty). Conducted online using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. 13. Travel Experience: Not required. 14. Scrubs: Provided by the hospital. 15. Flu Vaccine: Required; medical and religious exemptions only. COVID-19 vaccine not required. 16. Special Equipment: Fresenius T Hemodialysis Machines with CliC and Bibag; Marcor Millenium HX portable reverse osmosis machines; Baxter peritoneal dialysis cycler; Sigma Spectrum IV pump. Must have recent experience (within 1 year) with Fresenius and Baxter equipment. Critical: Candidate must go into the lab within 48 hours after signing; all testing must be completed within 48 hours. Travel pairs allowed but must be on different units and disclosed. References can be pending at submission. Orientation is 24 hours (12 hours ICU/offsite and 12 hours dialysis room/peritoneal dialysis). Self-scheduling. Ratios 1:1-2. Patient age groups: adults and geriatrics.
