Requirements
- Required certification: Histology - MLT
- 1+ years of experience
- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 1 year of hands-on experience in histology required, with specific expertise in microtomy and paraffin embedding 2. Cases: Paraffin embedding, microtomy and sectioning for routine H&E staining, IHCs, molecular procedures, processing/office orders, minimal special staining and processing 3. Certifications: ASCP-HT or ASCP-HTL required; copies should be current and on hand 4. License: Ohio fingerprinting required immediately upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must drive to an Ohio fingerprinting location as soon as possible after booking; candidates at extreme distances will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently 5. Education: Must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 6. EMR: Epic listed as charting system 7. Shifts/Call: Some OT offered but not mandatory; parking paid by employee except free on 3rd shift 8. RTO: Must be submitted with submission and built into the contract; pre-approved time off must be submitted before contract confirmation 9. Returning Staff: Former employees eligible for travel assignment after being away from facility for 6 months or more; current employees ineligible to be hired as traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at the same rate; please only submit to one location 11. Background: Screen for candidate vacation time immediately after booking due to fingerprinting delays; unresponsive or uncooperative candidates with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel 12. Pre-start Module Requirements: Strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start, no exceptions 13. Travel Experience: Not specified as required 14. Scrubs: Any color scrubs acceptable; no offensive prints; sweatshirts or jackets recommended as lab stays cold 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical Exemptions Only; COVID-19 Vaccine not required 16. Special Equipment: 20 microtomy stations with Leica microtomes, 2 Sakura and 4 Leica embedding stations, 6 Peloris processors, automated H&E stainers/coverslippers, 4 Dako Artisan special stainers, ClaraPath SectionStar automated microtome; IHC instruments include Bond 3s, Dako Omnis, Sakura Genies, and Benchmarks Critical: Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately upon signing. Two professional references required; at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; no coworker references accepted. Candidates with upcoming vacation immediately after booking may face push due to fingerprinting delays.
