- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required; MUST HAVE ORTHO EXPERIENCE 2. Cases: Orthopedic, Neuro spine, Med-surg, Post-surgical patients 3. Certifications: BCLS, NIH required; ACLS preferred; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required; unit will accept first-time travelers WITH EPIC EXPERIENCE 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour days, 36 or 48 hours offered; every other weekend required; float requirement to any med surg unit 8. RTO: 7 days max auto-approved (no holidays); CANNOT APPROVE ANY HOLIDAY RTO; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week due to orientation 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant Health/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months; facility rehire approval needed 10. Travel/Local: Under 50 miles offered lower local rate; unit accepts first-time travelers with Epic experience 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: Non-billable; Acute Care roles 8-10 hours; completed pre-start and annually via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes 13.
