- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of PCU experience required (HARD STOP); unit accepts first time travelers 2. Cases: PCU patients in ER holding unit; cardiac, LVAD, pulmonary HTN, cancer, respiratory, surgical, transplant patients 3. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIHSS required 4. License: Active CA state license required upon submission 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic (Epic experience no longer required) 7. Shifts/Call: Weekend block schedule; weekend coverage required; 48 HR with OT after 40 hours 8. RTO: 7 days of RTO allowed, screenshot upon submission, no RTO in first 2 weeks; one pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Must be gone 1 year to return as traveler 10. Travel/Local: Must be open to floating La Jolla & Hillcrest; locals accepted at same rate; will float to all PCU units system-wide including Hillcrest, Jacobs, Thornton, and East Campus 11. Background: License hits or background hits must be provided upon submission for UCSD HR approval 12. Modules: Non-billable, up to 8 hours factored into 12 hours NBO; completed during orientation and annually 13. Travel Experience: Unit accepts first time travelers 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - Medical Exemptions Only 16. Special Equipment: Arterial line management, central line care, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, vasoactive drips Critical: IV start and phlebotomy are HARD STOP requirements. A-line experience preferred but PASS if limited. 2 manager references required. 28 orientation hours. COVID-19 vaccine required with booster.
