- Unit Notes:**ALL ppw due WEDNESDAY at NOON MST the week before start** *Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from the facility location - # Beds: 24 - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:4 days and 1:4-5 nights - Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS is preferred - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: pre/post cardiac procedures, femoral and radial procedures heart cath, cardioversions on the floor, cardiothoracic, post -thoracotomy (directly from PACU), CABGs 24 hrs out, stents, post PCIs, vascular procedures, NSTEMI. trachs home vented, trachs with bipap and cpap, chest tubes. They pull pacer wires in the ICU normally - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Required - experienced with pre/post heart patients - stents, pacemakers, ICDs, pre/post, pre/post CABG, pre/post vascular experience - Are RN's required to titrate drips: some they do titrate - some they do not . Dobuatmine and Dopamine are nontitrable but generally all the other ones are titratable - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, amio, dopamine, nitro, dobuatmine, integrelin - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Monitor techs are on the unit and they do all the monitoring, measuring, and documenting. Travelers do not need to be an expert at it. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes, day charge does not take patients. Nights - charge takes 1-2 patients There is a ARR nurse (rapid response) - Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios: Yes, 1:8 on days. 1:12 on night shift - RT/Equipment (i.e., Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, vents, etc.): bipap, cpap, and home vents. Home vent experience is not required. - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 6:45 -1845 12 hr shifts. Block scheduling is allowed - more done on nights. Self scheduling allowed as well. - Weekend Requirements: Every other or 4 weekend shifts a month. More flexible on both shifts - Holiday Requirements: Will be in a rotation - every other holiday - 6 main ones - New Years, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, and Labor day - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements?: possibly float - will be in with the perm staff rotation. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: Navy Blue - Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 2-3 shifts - Additional Notes: wanting more stepdown nurses vs tele nurses.
