- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required (challenging and busy unit with similar experience in ratios/acuity) 2. Cases: Cardiac and stroke unit; pre/post pacemaker implantation, cardiac catheterization, CVA, TIA patients, cardiac drips 3. Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH required 4. License: NC or Compact license required in hand at time of start 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience preferred/most common 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights Friday/Saturday/Sunday; call required based on census; cannot work more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours per week 8. RTO: 7 days maximum auto approval (no holidays); must work 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO during first week 9. Returning Staff: Previous Novant/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying as traveler 10. Travel/Local: Under 50 miles offered lower local rate; travel pairs allowed but must work different units 11. Background: Not specified 12. Modules: 8-10 hours for acute care; non-billable; completed pre-start via online learning/Zoom/webinar/in-person 13. Travel Experience: Willing to accept first-time travelers 14. Scrubs: Navy blue or white or mixture of the two 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required - medical/religious exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Cardiac telemetry, pulse ox, high flow O2, Bipap (chronic use only), Blanketrol Critical: Must be available for lab work within 48 hours of signing. Must pass EKG testing prior to start. Patient ratios 1:5-6. Float required. 36-hour orientation required daily in first week.
