- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years required; 18 months experience required per general policy 2. Cases: Level 1 Trauma Center, Vascular, Thoracic surgery cases including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Atherectomy, Atrial Septal defect repair, Cardiomyoplasty, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, EVAR, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery, Mitral valve replacement, Pericardial window, Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery, TAVR, TEVAR, VAD, Heart & Lung Transplant, Valve Replacement, and Aortic Dissection 3. Certifications: BCLS and NBSTSA required 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent license applications submitted; IN RNs not allowed except Periop/OR RNs are exempt 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: No specific charting required for any IU health positions 7. Shifts/Call: 4x10 shifts 6:30-17:00; 90-120 hours of call in 6 week schedule 8. RTO: Auto-approve 5 days non-holiday RTO; more requires facility approval; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 9. Returning Staff: Any PERM or PRN employee must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires breaks 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local; Surgical Services positions accept locals at lower rate; floating 100% required 11.
