- Unit Notes:---OSF ITEMS OF NOTE: - Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (-$25 to regular and OT bill rates) - OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift - Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: - Last four (4) digits of clinician's SSN - Clinician's middle initial - Requested time off - Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated - Your candidate understands OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels Department: Oncology Acute | RN - # Beds: 19 beds - all private. - Nurse: Patient Ratios: Staffing is based on unit census. 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, can vary to 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights. We also staff 1:1 for specific medications/therapies. - Required certifications: BLS; ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: All types of Cancer (most seen are Lymphoma and Leukemia), Hematology, and medical patients. We also take care of radiation oncology patients as well as Gyn/Onc. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Experience with IV chemotherapy & Immunotherapy regimens and administration hanging / handling precautions (PPE) for chemotherapy, along with monitoring for side effects of medication. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: No. If med needs adjusted, have to have order from physician. - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Set rate = heparin, chemotherapy (24-hr bags Methotrexate). - Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge RN 24/7. Charges are outside of the staffing matrix of the unit, and occasionally take an assignment if there is a need. We also have a house supervisor 24/7. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: We utilize PCTs on the unit. When census is 19, we have 3 PCTs from 0700-1930 and 2 from 1900-0730. - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Bipap - only if it is the patient's home regimen for sleeping at night. Cpap - yes. RT helps manage both Bipap and CPAP 24/7. - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: We utilize house wide telemetry for our department. No, RNs do not need to read/interpret strips. Phillips monitors. - Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts. Start time 0700 or 1900. Varies depending on needs of unit could be 1/2 contract on days and 1/2 contract on nights or contract could be nights only. We flex depending on current need of the unit and work with the Traveler every step of the way. Self-Scheduling, however Shauna balances schedule and they would need to work with her on requests. Schedule is completed in a 6-week timeframe. - Weekend Requirement: We work every other weekend, Days = Sat/Sun and Nights = Fri/Sat, as staffing permits. - Holiday Requirement: We work every other holiday. - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: None - Floating Requirements: Traveler RNs will be added to our float rotation with all of the other RNs. A floating episode can consist of a 4 hour or greater period of time. When determining whose turn it is to float, it will be the RN whose float is the furthest away from the past. Any other Gen Med level of care. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: No specific scrub color. - Unit/Department specific orientation: 24-36 hrs. - Additional Notes: They utilize Epic Beacon on this unit for EMR documentation. Experience giving IV Chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications.
