- Unit Notes:- Ratios: Per ACOG and Cali; 1:3 or 1:4 couplets - EMR: Cerner power chart maternity and Cerner fetal links for FHM - Charge Nurse: Yes--will triage patients - Nurse Aides: OB techs will function as aides when no cases - Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Fri/Sat noc, Sat/Sun days) - Holidays Rotate w/ staff (one of every 3 majors) - Scrub Color: Ceil blue provided by hospital - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Anesthesia 24/7 (can be 20 min away from hospital but usually are in house), if in active labor are in house; 90% of population elects for epidural; after hours and weekends have private OB/GYN physicians but during week and day they are at their private practices - IV Team: No - RT 24/7: Yes - Pharmacy 24/7: 7-2230 then satellite - Shifts: 7a, 7p start times - Floating: To PP in rotation with perm staff - Floor specific orientation: 3 shifts on unit, 2 L&D, 1 MB - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Level 2 NICU on site that is staffed by Stanford nurse; 32 weeks and above; rarely will see some GYN clean patient overflow; Stanford NICU nurses attend each delivery - Additional Notes: LDRP rooms are new, PP rooms are older; have lactation nurses on staff during day and they will write the lactation care plan on white board; not a locked unit but do use hugs and kisses infant security system; patient population is a higher socioeconomic status w/ median maternal age of 37; higher mandarin speaking volume and use translation services via vocera phones; everyone helps w/ triage and NST - Additional Questions: **call is not required, but it is optional--at times, if low census will be placed on call for 4 hour increments during shift; if placed on call need to be within 20 minutes of hospital--there is a sleep room in hospital which can be utilized Cancellation Policy:Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, 3 shifts for assignments that are less than 13 Charting System:Cerner BSN Required:False License to Submit:Yes Trauma Level: Care Setting:Acute Division:Nursing Shift Notes:7p-7a, EOW first to float Required Certifications:ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
