Los Angeles Living as a Travel Nurse
There are a variety of housing arrangements to consider, such as corporate hotel rooms where all of the amenities are at your disposal; a fully- furnished apartment that provides extra living space, or renting a room in someone’s home. Once you have identified your needs and finalized how much you are willing to pay, you are ready to begin your search.
Searching for Housing on the Internet
When scouring the internet, please do not be fooled by embellished advertisements that tout low starting rents. Ideally, work with websites where you can interact directly with the owner or landlord in advance. Most are free and some offer membership plans. A few of recommended Online portals are:
www.vrbo.com
www.urbanflat.com
www.westsiderentals.com

Traveling Los Angeles as a Travel Nurse
Transportation Resources
It is no secret that Los Angeles has some of the worst traffic in America. With that in mind, it is important to keep within a comfortable commuting distance from hospital. As Los Angeles has some of the worst bottlenecks, you want to give yourself plenty of time to get to work in the event of bumper to bumper drives.
Public Transportation
If you opt not to take your own automobile and plan on relying on the public transportation offered for your community, carefully research the transit routes and schedules. Most bus lines in Los Angeles start around 4am and keep running past midnight, but they’re less frequent in the evening.
The following free websites and smartphone apps offer a trip planner where you can customize an itinerary in less than a minute, telling you what line to take, where to catch it, and what it costs:
-Metro.net
-Go Metro Los Angeles
-Go511
-NextBus
Rental Car
If public transportation is not your preference, renting a car in Los Angeles is easy, but can be costly. If you are flying into Los Angeles and need a rental car, booking ahead is highly recommended.
