- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required; must have 2 years of experience in a large, urban hospital; Trauma Level I experience required; first-time travelers not accepted (exception considered if 2 years at a Level I Academic Medical Center) 2. Cases: Medical/surgical, telemetry, orthopedic (total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases), pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, psychiatric/behavioral health; post cardiac cath patients; low acuity patients with significant discharge barriers 3. Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and CPI preferred; must be AHA or American Red Cross (implied by standard); copies required at submission 4. License: Pending license accepted, but if not in hand at time of submission, traveler will be booked six weeks out 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic experience required 7. Shifts/Call: 36 or 48-hour weekly options; 13 or 26-week contract options; ratios 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (nights can reach 1:7 rarely); 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Days: Saturday and Sunday; Nights: Friday night and Saturday night); travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently within scope, including potentially to Bellevue campus; float notification 1.5 hours prior to shift start or by text 8. Special Equipment/Drips: Required drips include Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin (non-DKA); may encounter Amiodarone, Cardizem, Argatroban, Bivalirudin, and Lasix; drip experience required on all floors — screen and call out if no drip experience; special skills include central line care, chest tubes, HFNC, PCA, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, telemetry monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and peripheral nerve block catheters among others Critical: 100% nicotine-free facility. COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only). Facility is a 718-bed Level I Academic Medical Center and the No. 1 rated hospital in Nebraska. 7th floor is a secured unit with behavioral health patients — must be comfortable with this population; training for safety and de-escalation is provided.
