Requirements

- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years required; must be within the 3 most recent years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for a clinical pass 2. Cases: Oncology preferred but not required; patient population includes solid tumors, blood cancers, post-op care, COPD, CHF, tumor lysis, DIC, sepsis, chemo administration, neutropenic fevers, and non-oncology diagnoses 3. Certifications: BLS required 4. License: Valid compact or state RN license required in hand at time of submission 5. Education: Must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 6. EMR: Epic experience required; Pyxis used for medication system 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour day/night rotating or nights; shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; weekend shifts vary based on unit needs; float required to other MedSurg units within the James Cancer tower 8. RTO: One pre-approved time off allowed; must be submitted with submission and built into contract; candidates with vacation immediately after booking may face push due to fingerprinting delays 9. Returning Staff: Former employees eligible after 6 months away from facility; current Ohio State University hospital employees ineligible as travelers 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at the same rate; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must drive to an Ohio fingerprinting location; extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet 11. Background: Ohio fingerprinting required immediately upon contract signing; strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start with no exceptions; candidates unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel 12. Modules: Orientation is 72 hours 13. Travel Experience: Not specified as required 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required — medical exemptions only; COVID-19 vaccine not required 16. Special Equipment: Working with Corrections Officers in a locked corrections unit; access controlled by Corrections Officers Critical: Ohio fingerprinting must be completed as soon as contract is signed. Two professional references required; at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership capacity; charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted.
