Epic Travel Staffing is hiring a Travel RN – Tele Step-down

Shift: Nights, 7p-7:30a, 12×4, 48 hrs per week
Weekends: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period

Duration: 13 weeks (26-week option available)

Requirements:

• Active NE RN License; pending Nebraska license accepted, but if license is not in hand at time of submission the traveler will be booked six weeks out
• 2 years of experience required; must have 2 years experience in a large, urban hospital
• First-time travelers not accepted (will consider if the traveler has 2 years of experience at a Level 1 Academic Medical Center)
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Trauma Level I experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred: ACLS, CPI

Other Details:

• Required skills: IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care/management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management/titration, heparin and insulin protocols, wound care/wound vac, tracheostomy care, feeding tube management, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, telemetry monitoring
• Drips required on all floors. Required drips: Nitro, Heparin, Insulin (non-DKA). May encounter: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Argatroban, Bivalirudin, Lasix. Candidates will be screened and called out if no drip experience
• Mixed-acuity unit (Medical Surgical/Telemetry & Stepdown); multi-care level unit — RNs should be prepared to care for up to six med/surg patients
• MS/Tele ratios: 1:5 days, 1:6 nights (rarely 1:7 nights); Stepdown ratios: 1:3-4 days and nights
• 48-bed unit caring for medical surgical patients specializing in Neurology and Neurosurgery; eight beds equipped for long-term EEG monitoring
• Patient population: strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, brain and spinal cord tumors, and other neurological conditions
• Patient age groups: Adults, Geriatrics
• Special equipment: lumbar drains
• Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, and paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors
• Floating required — travelers are first to float and must be prepared to float frequently within scope to meet staffing needs, including potentially to another campus; notified 1 hour prior to shift start by call or text
• Holiday requirement: travelers must work 2 of 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
• Mandatory gray scrubs with facility logo; details on obtaining them shared once confirmed
• Parking: permit available (approx. $55/month depending on lot) or daily rate ($3 for 20 hrs)
• 100% nicotine-free facility
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)
• All contracts end on Sunday; work week is Monday-Sunday
• Pre-approved time off: up to two weeks permitted; RTO must be submitted with application; no RTO during first week of orientation; additional requests after confirmation at manager discretion
• Locals not accepted: candidate must be more than 100 miles from the facility
