- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years minimum required 2. Cases: Surgical PCU cases including ENT (neck dissections, mandibulectomy), Thoracic (esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy), General Surgery (pancreatic, bowel/liver resections), Urology (urinary diversions, cystectomies, RPLND), medical overflow 3. Certifications: ACLS and BCLS required 4. License: Must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses obtainable once permanent license applications submitted; university must be ACEN or CCNE accredited 5. Education: University must be accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation 6. EMR: Cerner preferred; no specific charting required for IU Health positions 7. Shifts/Call: Work every other weekend per contract; 6 weekends per 13-week contract; must work 2 out of 3 major holidays 8. RTO: Can auto-approve 5 days of non-holiday RTO or less; anything more requires facility approval; 2 days pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Any permanent or PRN employee must be away 12 months before applying as traveler; consecutive contract policy requires designated breaks 10. Travel/Local: IN residents considered local and not accepted for PCU positions; locals offered in-state rate at lower bill rate 11. Background: Must note background policy prior to submission to seek approval prior to offer 12. Modules: 48 orientation hours 13.
