- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years of clinical nursing experience required 2. Cases: General med-surg issues including opioid abuse, organ failure, change in LOC, behavior issues, MRDD/delay issues; skills required include chest tubes, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, isolation precautions/PPE, MS/Tele, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, substance withdrawal, use of Rapid Response/Code teams 3. Certifications: BLS required; IV certification required 4. License: Active Ohio RN license required; valid compact or state license in hand at time of submission 5. Education: Must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program 6. EMR: EPIC experience preferred 7. Shifts/Call: Nights, 3x12s; weekdays and some weekends; 3-4 weekend days per month; float required to different units within the OSU organization as needed; patient ratio 4:1 days, nights, and weekends; 36 orientation hours 8. RTO: RTO required with submission and must be built into contract; one pre-approved time off 9. Returning Staff: Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from facility; current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any Ohio State University hospital location 10. Travel/Local: Locals accepted at the same rate 11. Background: Ohio fingerprinting required; must complete fingerprints as soon as contract is signed; strict compliance deadline of Tuesday prior to start, no exceptions; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must drive to an Ohio fingerprinting location; extreme distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently 12. Pre-Start Modules: Not specified 13. Travel Experience: Travel experience a plus; not required 14. Scrubs: Not specified 15. Flu Vaccine: Required — medical exemptions only 16. Special Equipment: Unit is a mixed med-surg PCU unit with 6 med-surg PCU transitional beds; procedures include Foleys, PICC, IV, IV antibiotics, chest tubes, paracentesis at bedside, PD, LP Critical: Two professional references required; at least 1 must be from a manager/director or formal leadership capacity; Charge RN acceptable for 2nd reference; no coworker references accepted. Candidates must be submitted to one location only. Travelers who are unresponsive or uncooperative with credentialing are at risk of push/cancel. Vacation time immediately after booking may cause delays due to fingerprinting.
