- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: 2 years PICU experience required; must have PICU and NICU experience and be comfortable with Peds; Peds PACU experience highly preferred; previous NICU/PICU float pool experience considered 2. Cases: Floating to PICU, NICU, Peds Medsurg, Peds PACU, Peds ED boarders, and Postpartum/Mother Baby; PICU cases include congenital cardiac defects, respiratory disease, trauma, transplantation, neurosurgical, orthopedic; NICU includes extreme prematurity, congenital defects, surgical needs, respiratory distress; Acute Pediatrics includes Cardiology, Surgery, General Pediatric Medicine, and Hematology Oncology 3. Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS required; Dr. Browns Infant Driven Feeding Certification required (can submit with pending; cost is $185); copies of certifications required at submission 4. License: VA license accepted as pending at submission, but must be in-hand by the Wednesday before start date; Nursys verification required for submittal 5. Education: BSN preferred 6. EMR: Epic experience required; charting system experience required 7. Shifts/Call: Days; 36 or 48 hours; 13-week contract; every other weekend, every other holiday; block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed; orientation is 60 hours 8. RTO: Up to 40 hours of RTO guaranteed per 13-week contract; no RTO approved during first 2 weeks of assignment; no additional RTO requests approved after acceptance; any vacation plans between sign date and start date must be communicated to Client Delivery Manager at time of submission 9. Returning Staff: Must inform Client Delivery Manager if previously employed at any UVA Health system facility as permanent staff, internal, or external traveler; perm staff and internal travelers must be separated for one year and approved by UVA leadership; external travelers cannot work more than 365 days total regardless of time off between contracts; facility does not allow travelers to return after 365 days on assignment despite any separation period 10. Travel/Local: Select units have a 50-mile travel restriction; this unit is not listed among those with local restrictions, but locals policy should be confirmed; specific units listed explicitly exclude locals 11. Background: If aware of any background hits, must inform Client Delivery Manager prior to submission 12. Modules: Non-billable up to 16 hours; any time exceeding 16 hours is billable; completed during orientation; vary by specialty; recorded in Workday 13. Travel Experience: Travel experience required per job requirements 14. Scrubs: Not mentioned 15. Flu Vaccine Requirements: Required, no exemptions 16. Special Equipment: Must have minimum PICU experience and be comfortable with NICU, Acute Pediatrics, and Pediatric ED; skills include ECMO, CRRT, Ventricular Assist Device, ICP monitoring, Hemodynamic monitoring, Ventilator Management, Arterial line management, Central Line care, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and additional advanced competencies listed Critical: Clinical review with auto offer. Must adhere to UVA float policy. References required. Float may include L&D and Mother/Baby during staffing crisis. Patient ratios vary by unit: PICU 1:2; NICU ICU 1:2, ICN 1:3; Acute Pediatrics 1:4-5; Peds ED variable.
