- Unit Notes:Med Sol clinical team will prescreen Copy of the DL is needed at time of submittal to validate legal name - Pulse must reflect the name on a gov't issued ID - no middle initial or middle name First to Float between College Station and Bryan campus (16 minutes apart) as needed Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Candidates who were employed PRN through outside firms will be considered. ****RN must pass a Dysrhythmia (83%) before signing the contract. They will be given three attempts to pass.**** Special Information: -Call outs are strongly discouraged and could lead to termination -May be asked to precept, as needed by the unit First week of orientation will be working 8s then will move to 10s SHIFT: 10s start time between 0700-0800 Call requirement: 10-12 weeknight of call per month; start after their shift on weekdays and ends at 0700 the next day. Call is self scheduled for a 2 month period. 30 min response time Unit PACU # Beds 12 rooms some bays and some rooms 7 PACU bays 8 Stepdown rooms (usually only use 5 ) Phase 1 and Phase 2? Both, must be comfortable working in both phases and Preop Travelers can float to Preop and cover Preop when on call Nurse: Patient Ratios Phase 1:2, 1:1 Pediatrics, Phase 2 1:3 Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS, ACLS and PALS Common Cases General: choles, appys, hernia repairs, lumpectomy, mastectomy, hysters, colectomy, Tonsils & adenoids, BMT (bilateral myringotomy tubes), MSDL (microdirect laryngoscopy), thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, bunions, occasional ortho: totals, podiatry, Endo: EGD, colonoscopy. Get a lot of pediatrics and occasional cath lab Minimal minor Trauma- typically sent to Bryan campus Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have 1 year of PACU experience & will accept first time travelers EMR SIS and Meditech Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? "Yes, is a working charge, will take patient assignment. Supervisor helps out in department as well Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios None RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.) Patients may come back with an oral airway, occasional LMA and some ICU cares ICU patients - do they recover in PACU? ICU cares- if intubated usually going to floor, will keep ICU in PACU for critical care drips and some LMAs RNs read strips? Yes, must be able to read and interpret basic tele. Shifts & Scheduling: M-F: 10 hour shifts Start time between: 7-8am random days off during the week Weeknight/Call Requirements 10-12 weeknight of call per month; start after their shift on weekdays and ends at 0700 the next day. 2 RNs on for each call shift. Can go multiple days without needing to go in. Weekend/Call Requirements 1 Weekend per month; The weekend call is 0700-0700 , a 24 hour call shift. Self sign up for 2 shifts in a month (does not have to be the same weekend days) or can do a full weekend (i.e.: 0700 Saturday-0700 Monday) Holiday/Call Requirements Required for Call only What is call response time? 30 minutes Floating Requirements First to Float between College Station and Bryan campus (16 minutes apart) as needed - float to Pre-op @ Bryan Scrub Color/Dress Code Navy Blue - not provided Unit/Department specific orientation 1-2 days of orientation with a preceptor Additional Notes Looking for a team player and pitch in as needed. Staff are very helpful.
