- Unit Notes:- Hiring Process: Candidate Interview- Interview with MedSol Clinical Team- No Unit Manager involvement - Radius: 60 MILES, DL must be submitted - Week of orientation: Please ensure clinicians are in state for week of orientation even if first day modules are remote Unit NICU/Nursery - MH Level of NICU Level II # Beds 6 designed beds, 2 transition beds that can overflow to 8 with staffing. Nurse:Patient Ratios Ratios based on AWHONN acuity standards can be 1:2 or 1:3 within the NICU. Postpartum and wellbabies typically are 1:3. Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, PALS, ACLS, NRP?) BLS/STABLE/NRP Common diagnoses/Types of patients TTN/RDS/ feeder growers/Hyperbili/Hyphoglycemia. Will attend deliveries Experience or 'Must have' skills They would be required to take a postpartum mom and her baby as a couplet assignment up to a 1:3 ratio per AWHONN standards. Are RNs required to titrate drips? Level II NICU there are not many drips to titrate. Outside of general fluids like TPN or dextrose those babies would transport to a tertiary hospital even if we started them. Yes-charge takes an assignment. Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios There are nurse aides as part of the LDRP. Neonatologist in house 24/7? NNPs available 24/7 and neonatology available via telehealth. RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Vents/BCPAP/HHFNC equipment available. Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? No Tele Techs Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 6p-630a, block depending on open needs Weekend Requirements . They split it on a 6 week schedule block. I have some weekend warriors who pick up more than most. But typically it equates to like 4 shifts Friday-Sunday count as weekends on nights in a 6 week period. Sometimes less. Holiday Requirements Yes to weekend and holiday requirements. Is there call or a standby requirement? There is call and standby requirements at this hospital. My unit takes turns by hours unless they request to be standby. My staff take one mandatory call shift every 12 weeks. Floating Requirements Hospital by policy requires floating as helping hands to other departments. The family birth center required the level II NICU to float to MI with a patient assignment.
