- Key Requirements Summary: 1. Experience: Minimum 2 years required, with at least 1 year of direct Med/Surg experience; manager will not accept less than 1 year of past Med/Surg experience due to ratios on unit 2. Cases: Primary neuroscience unit caring for stroke patients, seizures, subdural hematomas, SAH, ICH, brain tumors, possible neurosurgery patients, and epilepsy; 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) on unit 3. Certifications: BCLS and NIHSS required; NIH required; ACLS preferred but not required; must pass EKG testing prior to start 4. License: Not specified 5. Education: Not specified 6. EMR: Epic required; PYXIS and SBAR also used on unit 7. Shifts/Call: 12-hour nights; 36 or 48 hours per week accepted; travelers required to work every other weekend; floating required to any other MS/Tele areas, may include COVID care units; block scheduling not always guaranteed; if a traveler calls out, they are expected to make up that shift the same week or at end of contract 8. RTO: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; if RTO includes weekends, time will be added to end of contract to make up those dates; any call-offs or additional RTO could result in cancellation and DNR; only one pre-approved RTO 9. Special Equipment: Neurosurgical patients, seizures, subdural hematomas, SAH, ICH, brain tumors; skills required include central line care, PICC line management, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), high flow nasal cannula, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry Critical: Must have Med/Surg experience. EKG testing must be passed prior to start. RTO is strictly not allowed after booking. Patient ratio is 1:6. Contract end date through 2/27; 13-week length or longer accepted.
