- Unit Notes:OSF ITEMS OF NOTE: - Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (-$25 to regular and OT bill rates) - OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift - Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: - Last four (4) digits of clinician's SSN - Clinician's middle initial - Requested time off - Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated - Your candidate understands OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels Department: Short Stay Unit | RN - # Beds: 13 Beds. - Nurse: Patient Ratios: 1:05. - Required certifications: RN license, BLS, NIHSS. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Stroke, traumas, cardiac, gen med (UTI, COPD, Cellulitis). - Experience or 'Must have' skills: Overall gen med/surg experience. SSU is a fast paced department with high patient turnover. Overall gen med/surg skills. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: We also do not titrate drips. - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: None. - Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge RN 24/7 who takes a patient assignment. House supervisor 24/7. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: PCTs- 2 on Days & 1 on Nights. Job Duties: patient care, citals, accu checks, hourly rounding, etc. - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, Bipap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Bi-pap and c-pap are used only for prn orders or at night. High flow is also used. - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: House wide telemetry using Phillips Monitoring. RN's are not required to read EKG strips. - Shifts & Scheduling: Day shift - 07-1930, Night shift - 1900-0730. - Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6 Week schedule. - Holiday Requirement: Yes, every other holiday (all staff requirement). - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No on call. - Floating Requirements: Travelers are the first to float to other departments when needed. Short stay unit is Gen Med acuity; if floated to a higher level of care & not experienced, they would be used more as a help-all for a team nursing approach. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: No specific scrub colors. Scrubs are not provided. Avoid pediatric scrub tops. - Unit/Department specific orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor.
