- Unit Notes:OSF ITEMS OF NOTE: - Local Rate: Applies to clinicians with permanent addresses within 50 miles (-$25 to regular and OT bill rates) - OSF Call Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift - Non-billable Orientation Hours: 12 hours, guaranteed hours will not apply during orientation REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION: - Last four (4) digits of clinician's SSN - Clinician's middle initial - Requested time off - Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated - Your candidate understands OSF is a Drug-Free Campus and they must produce a negative drug screen for all panels Department: Medical Surgical Acute Care | RN - # Beds: 18 beds, all are private rooms except for one semi-private. - Nurse: Patient Ratios: Ratio 4-5:1 (days), 5-6:1 (nights). - Required certifications: BLS certification, IL RN licensure, ACLS preferred for Charge RN position. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Gen med patients with various diagnoses. - Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1yr+ of hospital experience preferred. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes, Heparin. - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin. - Is there a Charge Nurse &/or House Supervisor on each shift?: Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: 24 hour Charge RN coverage, may have patient assignment at times. We also have a house supervisor 24/7. - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Two PCTs per shift - ratio 9:1 when unit is full, otherwise evenly split. - RT Equipment: Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Patients may have oxygen requirements up to 6L NC, stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or PRN. - Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Patients who required telemetry will be monitored remotely via house wide telemetry department; unit equipment will primarily be Phillips. Unit has a PCL (unit clerk) with 24- hour coverage. - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 12hour shifts (7a-7p & 7p- 7a) with shift report at 7a and 7p. Travelers may collaborate with unit leadership for additional scheduling preferences. - Weekend Requirement: RNs work every other weekend - Sat/Sun(days) & Fri/Sat (nights). - Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation per policy. - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: Call is not required. - Floating Requirements: Travel RNs are first to float to other units as needed. - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided?: Any color scrubs, staff are to provide their own, no pediatric scrubs please. - Unit/Department specific orientation: Travel RNs typically have one 12-hr shift in orientation with a unit preceptor. - Additional Notes: Hospitalist/Intensivist in house 24/7. RNs are expected to attempt IV starts and utilize unit resources if unsuccessful, inpatient phlebotomy team is utilized for blood draws. RT in house 24/7. Pharmacy 24/7 - all medications are prepared by pharmacy staff.
