- Unit Notes:Department: Med Surg RN 7N *Certifications Required: BLS* **Local Rate: Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility. Client rates reduced by $8.00/hour.** - # Beds: 29 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, NOCs 1:5-6 - Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Ortho Trauma (fractures, Joint replacements), Vascular (fem-pop bypass, cardid endartectomy, heparin drips, many have wound dressing changes) Urology (TURP, TURBT, Continuous bladder irrigation), Neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion, back pain), OBGYN Oncology ( TAH/OBS), Acute Medical can also be admitted to the department - Experience or 'Must have' skills: 1-2 years acute care nursing experience - Are RN's required to titrate drips: Yes following a prescribed nomogram - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin. Occasionally nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, insulin - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: There is telemetry techs who watch the monitors 24/7, no they don t need to read strips. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge Nurse on all shifts takes assignment. There is a house supervisor on all shifts. - Are there Nurse Aides on this unit/Ratios: Nursing Assistants present. 0630-1900 1:8-10, 1900-2300 2 CNA's for the nursing unit, 2300-0700 1 CNA for the nursing unit. During this 1900-0700 timeframe RN's carry a different responsibility than the day shift model for Vital Signs and ADL's. - RT/Equipment: CPAP, BIPAP, High Flow Oxygen Therapy. NO VENTS. RT support is present. - Shifts & Scheduling: RN 0700-1930, 1100-2330, 2300-0700 CNA 0630-1900,1830-0700 No self scheduling, block scheduling to the best of our ability dependent on staffing. - Weekend Requirements: Every Other Weekend - Holiday Requirements: Every Other Holiday - Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No - Floating Requirements?: Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units - Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs Provided?: Any color, clean & professional - Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 1 day computer training, 1-2 precepted floor orientation *MUST note in submission if clinician has ever worked for Marshfield.
