- Unit Notes:Float Pool between Med/Onc, 2 surgical units, & 2 medical units 6:1 Ratio's Total Care - No PCAs No tele - only occasional strip reading Transitioning to EPIC in 11/2026 Unit MedSurg # of Beds 128 Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:6 Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS Common diagnoses/Types of patients Surgical services - colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, ortho; medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney and GI conditions. Experience or 'Must have' skills Basic medical/surgical relevant and current experience. Large hospital experience. NO FIRST TIME TRAVELERS Are RNs required to titrate drips? No Common titratable &/or set rate drips NA Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, and yes Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes, ratio vary RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Not in Med/Surg; respiratory is readily available to assist. We do N/C on floors Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Remote tele monitoring Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) We assign staff to need areas.
